Please Retract Your Recommendation of "The Message"

"The Message", an effort by Eugene Peterson, is NOT a literal translation. Sad to say, IT IS NOT EVEN A VALID PARAPHRASE. It is the word of God extorted and badly RE-WRITTEN. [I actually bought it, looked through it, and threw it in the trash. It was that bad.) [It is also DEVOID of God's personal holy name, Jehovah/ Yahweh. (It belongs where God put it, in his own-authored book, some 7000 times. Many translations keep it in there 2-4 times, anyways; but "The Message" has eliminated it entirely.] It is more convenient, that way, to humans looking for an EASY-GOING form of [FALSE] worship - one with
with LESS OBLIGATION to God than what HIS actual Scriptures REQUIRE.

Yet, "the easygoingness of the stupid is what will destroy them." (Proverbs 1:32)

There is a surprisingly large and apparently growing throng of Bono-and-U2 fans that have been musically romanced into a "faith" of "whatever" - so long as you give to the poor: Fornication, drunkenness? Whatever. Idolatry, spiritism? Whatever. Homosexuality? Whatever. This "translation" supports that same casual mode of spiritually negligent "whatever."

Consider, for example, the following. Here, on a major U2 message board (which, yes, I have been banned from), a fan hails what is a HORRIFIC MISREPRESENTATION OF GOD'S WORDS, as found in "The Message." The fan expresses their understanding that spiritual "RULES" are undesirable because they cause people to become "bogged down." In defense of this philosophy, the fan quotes the following from your recommended Peterson's "translation":

"For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. What matters is something far more interior: faith expressed in love." Galatians 5:6

How incredibly FOUL and FALSE.

CONTRAST THAT "rendition" to the sense of the whole rest of God's Bible; as well as FAR more accurate translations of this same verse:

1.) [NWT] "For as regards Jesus Christ, neither CIRCUMCISION is of any value NOR IS UNCIRCUMCISION, but faith operating through love [is]."

2.) [JB] "Since in Christ Jesus WHETHER YOU ARE CIRCUMCIZED OR NOT makes no difference - what matters is faith that makes its power felt through love."

3.) [RV] "For in Christ NEITHER CIRCUMCISION NOR UNCIRCUMCISION is of any avail, but faith working through love."

The people first being taught this were transitioning between one set of RULES from God, the Law Covenant (which required male circumcision) to another, more principally-based set of RULES from God, namely, "THE LAW OF THE CHRIST" - which would have included regard for and obedience towards "EVERY UTTERANCE COMING FORTH FROM JEHOVAH'S MOUTH" (Matthew 4:4), either by command or wider-based scripturally taught PRINCIPLE.

Here, in particular, there was confusion among these early Christians as to whether circumcision was still necessary, or made one a "better" worshiper of God/ disciple of Christ. The answer, as shown by the Scriptures, is "no"; and that what would identify a person as a true worshiper of God would be unhypocritical faith (which would definitely involve following/ obeying God's rules) and love - rather than physical circumcision itself. There should be a "circumcision of the heart by spirit", rather than what could merely be a physical sign "outside upon the flesh." (See Romans 2:25-29)

Certainly no true Christian of either that time nor since would take such a saying so out of context as to use it TO DE-VALUE ALL OF JEHOVAH GOD'S OTHER, SCRIPTURAL REQUIREMENTS - PRINCIPLES, COMMANDS, OR STATED PURPOSES - INCLUDING ALL THOSE PERTAINING TO HIS ONE TRUE CONGREGATION / RELIGION ON EARTH HEADED BY HIS SON! Are these God's words or not?! -

"ONE BODY there is, and ONE SPIRIT, even as you were called in the ONE HOPE to which you were called; ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM; ONE GOD and Father of all [persons], who is over all and through all and in all." (Ephesians 4:4-6)

So there is ONE TRUE RELIGION - which is global; OBEDIENT to God and Christ; exalts God's name and truth to the world; has no divisions, but rather, has true love amongst itself; stays spiritually SEPARATE from "Babylon the Great" (Satan's God-condemned world empire of spiritually adulterous FALSE religions); and also maintains political neutrality and loyalty to God's incoming-to-earth, heaven-based Kingdom amid Satan's global system.

Further, instead of viewing "rules" from God as that which would make them feel "bogged down", oppressed, or otherwise undesirably hampered, TRUE Christians know this:

"FOR THIS IS WHAT THE LOVE OF GOD MEANS, THAT WE OBSERVE HIS COMMANDMENTS; AND YET HIS COMMANDMENTS >>> ARE >>> NOT BURDENSOME." (1John 5:3)

Rather than trying to rationalize excuses for not having to obey God's moral laws, etc. (or even re-writing the book containing those laws to suit personal/ more popular wishes) , those HONESTLY seeking to worship their Maker "with spirit and truth", on his own-willed terms, ask for his guidance, and then willingly OBEY his Scriptures pertaining to such things as they them. (John 4:24; All of Psalm 119 !!!) They love God's life-saving, good, and beneficial words AS THEY RIGHTLY ARE, NOT added-to, subtracted from, or WATERED DOWN!!! (John 17:17; Revelation 22:18,19)

To Quell Idolatry/ U2 Zeus-Charist Services

Dear Sir,

"Out of control" can be a good thing; or "out of control" can be a BAD thing.

Bono and/ or U2 worship and/OR WORSHIP of God Almighty based on what are understood as "Bono/ U2 philosophies" - which, up to at least very recently, included media-ed admonitions in conflict with Jehovah/ Yahweh's own scriptural terms of worship - IS "OUT OF CONTROL" in a very, very BAD way.

Certainly, this is beyond sick. I hope you are reading some of the comments of fans who are IDOLIZING you, to see just how far and how wrong this has gone.

First flailed in the U.S.; this is now okay'd to be done up big-time by the Angelican Church of England? (Out of curiosity, will these be MC'd by some of their homosexual clergy too?)

How aware do you think these people are, on a scale of one to 100, regarding the danger of mixing music that has left space for moon worship, sex worship, goddess worship, and other forms of spiritism in with attempts to worship God Almighty, the biggest hater of idolatry?? Negative 800 million?

Also, a news article billed that these "U2 Eucharist" services would promote the UN's Millenium Goals, including fighting poverty.

Again, naturally, wanting to help fellow human beings who are suffering on account of sickness and poverty is a JUST, GOOD thing. But trying to drum-up "relief" for them by promoting the BREAKING God's of laws against spiritually supporting/ joining in with anti-scriptural FALSE religions or idolatry of institutions of man is a bad thing. It is, in fact, the OPPOSITE of what God's words and spirit are urgently calling for. (Revelation 18:4,5; 1Corinthians 10:20; 2Corinthians 6:14-18; Revelation Chapter 13)

Regarding scripturally unauthorized and biblically sub-standard "worship" of Jehovah/ Yahweh through U2 concerts themselves; one SERIOUSLY mistaken fan of yours recently posted this on a certain message board:

"the SHOWS remain the best ever worship service."

Can't you just still smell wrongfully-made "sacrificial smoke" that has risen up? Obviously a lot of your fans can - and are still inhaling. Others have scooped up the cinders from these fires into buckets to go ignite their own "U2 Eucharist" smoke-fests; where, frighteningly, "Yahweh's" name, by U2 song, may continue to be linked with what is false worship. (Please compare Jeremiah 44:3-5)

Again, what did (the apostle) Paul and Barnabas do, in a purposely-provided Bible lesson?

"And the crowds, seeing what Paul had done, raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian tongue: 'The gods have become like humans and have come down to us!' And they went calling Barnabas Zeus, but Paul Hermes, since he was the one taking the lead in speaking. And the priest of Zeus, whose [temple] was before the city, brought bulls and garlands to the gates and was desiring to offer sacrifices with the crowds." [Boy, I hope you're reading this.]

"However, when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they ripped their outer garments and leaped out into the crowd, crying out and saying, 'Men, why are you doing these things? We also are humans having the same infirmities as you do, and are declaring the good news to you, for you to TURN FROM THESE VAIN THINGS TO THE LIVING GOD, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things in them. Did you notice, though, that Paul and Barnabas >>> TRIED to STOP IDOLATRY of themselves and the worship of FALSE gods in connection with them; and also TRIED to RE-DIRECT THE WORSHIP OF THEIR ADORING THRONG TO THE TRUE GOD?

With Armageddon coming and millions of your crowds' lives at stake,

"The Rule has been Disproved/ The Stone, it has been Moved" *

A (slightly edited) excerpt from some comments I wrote & posted elsewhere, as part of a response to an opposer. RE: U2's "Window in the Skies" * -

The JUDGMENT of God is that the RULE of Satan's world system/ Satan-and-human RULE/ has been DISPROVED as being ADEQUATE, RIGHTEOUS, or LIFE-SUSTAINING. The world is a dying ruin of injustice apart from the God-rule most people have rejected.

"THE STONE, IT HAS BEEN MOVED." What thought comes to mind - perhaps the stone being moved away from the tomb where Jesus once laid? Perhaps, but Jesus has been VERY active and has been doing much since then to carry out God's purposes.

There is ANOTHER "STONE" that needs to paid attention to. It is the large one "not cut by hands", cut from the mountain representing Jehovah's Sovereignty, and barrelling through the air at this time, getting closer and closer by the moment to IMPACT at that which represents all of the unjust rulerships that have been tried by men apart from God-rule.

When this stone soon "hits", the entire world system - ALL of the "kingdoms" of men, which have ALL proved to be deficient and injurious to humans in God's eyes - will be Divinely "crushed", and be brought to an "end." (See Daniel 2:34,35,44,45)

That will be Armageddon. (Also see Revelation 19:11-21.) It is soon. (Remember that God will destroy Satan's entire world empire of all FALSE religions even before that time, and that those found still spiritually supporting them will suffer punishment/ death from God along with them. (Revelation Chapters 17 and 18)

Many need to become "WIDE AWAKE" - for real - and FAST. (1Thessalonians 5:6; Luke 21:36; 1Corinthians 16:13; Revelation 16:15)
