At least they did not show huge, lit-up spiritistic-pagan-idol symbols during "Yahweh" for this filming - like they did at many or most of the live Vertigo concerts.
(The DVD still highlights Bono's COEXIST headband, however - with its three pagan-spiritistic symbols: The cresent moon, the hexagram, and the cross. Bono is also pictured wearing it on the DVD's cover.)

God DOES NOT bless or protect troups today (as requested by Bono in the Vertigo DVD). He blesses the efforts of those people who OBEY HIM - who DO NOT TAKE UP THE SWORD, and who LEARN WAR NO MORE, etc. (Matthew 26:52; Revelation 13:10; Isaiah 2:4)
Bono, did you or did you not make quite a repeated, giant public issue about the war-mongering of religions??? This is an example of what is wrong, and you did it yourself! God ISN'T GOING TO BLESS OR PROTECT THE MILITARY TROUPS OF NATIONS ANYMORE - they are NOT doing his will. To infer that God would is just joining in with all of the other FALSE "Christian" and other FALSE religionists who promote and/ or condone fleshly war participation and spiritual support of it!!!! Again, what is the point of backing "Give Peace a Chance", walking around making the peace sign, singing "Love and peace", etc., but then praying before the masses - asking them to join in too - for God's protection of those in the military? I have not come to argue with you. I just stumbled upon your blog and am a little confused by it. So please answer my question in the heart it is written not to be flamed or angered but just out of curiousity. What is your religion? Are you jewish? I am really just curious because I see that you obviously read the New Testament and believe in Jesus Christ but you do not believe in the triune God-head but you accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God and according to something I read you know it is His sacrifice that attones for sin, but you are saying He is not the same as God himself, so I am curious who or what you think he is? I always thought people eithered believed on Jesus who was God in the flesh and came to sacrifice himself for our sins or they just believed he was a good prophet, teacher, whatever....but if I understand your line of thinking you think he is the Son of God but not part of a triune God-head consisting of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and this idea is really foreign to me and really confuses me.

I am a Jehovah's Witness. I changed from being a trinitarian Catholic to worshiping the One God Jehovah [Yahweh] 20 years ago, after three years of studying the Scriptures for proof to see if this religion was true. It was a joy and relief to find that it was - like the sunshine flooding forth.
(Once a person realizes they've been fooled about who God is and what his purposes are - even as they relate to them personally - their whole life; if they're like I was, they feel jilted; and they're mighty careful to never, ever be fooled about religion again. It becomes important then to do as the Beroeans of the Bible did: It was said of them that "they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, CAREFULLY EXAMINING THE SCRIPTURES DAILY AS TO WHETHER THESE THINGS WERE SO" (Acts 17:11). This helps a person build a strong foundation of true faith - based on the power of the word of God itself. Go for it.)
Yahweh/ Jehovah's Witnesses are "a people for his name" (Acts 15:14). We stand up for his name, defend it, and give all we got to exalt it, glorify it, and help sanctify it in this world where Satan's spirit currently fills the air (Ephesians 2:2) - and where God's name and reputation are defamed.
Jehovah/ Yahweh's gathering a global "people for his name" for the time of the end was prophesied:
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. From the sunrising I shall bring your seed, and from the sunset I shall collect you together. I shall say to the north, 'Give up!' and to the south, 'Do not keep back. Bring my sons from far off, and my daughters from the extremity of the earth, everyone that is CALLED BY MY NAME and that I have created for my own glory, that I have formed, yes, that I have made'....'You are my witnesses,' is the utterance of Jehovah,'even my own servant whom I have chosen." (Isaiah 43:5-7,10)
Everyone on earth in this pre-Armageddon time is getting their chance to hear of God's name, which means, "He Causes to Become". Everyone is getting their chance - one way or another - to learn the Scriptural truth about who God is; what his purposes are; who his Son is; how Jesus is the one mediator between God and man (1Timothy 2:5); why we must "exercise faith" (John 3:16, 36) in the provision of the ransoming, sin-atoning sacrifice of Jesus perfect human life; what God's requirements are for people in order for them to survive Armageddon; how to worship God "in spirit and truth" (John 4:24), etc. [See Matthew 24:14]
Then, "everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah [Yahweh]", knowing, obeying, and honoring the God behind that name, "will get away safe." (Joel 2:32; Romans 10:13)
Most will "inherit the earth", and live forever on it in peace. [Psalm 37:11,29) (A very tiny number will go to live up in heaven, where they will help Jesus Christ rule over all those who will be on earth - Revelation 5:9.)
This new world system will be headed by Jehovah [Yahweh's] appointed King of his Kingdom; his own loyal Son, who knows what it is like to have lived as a human. He is our Ransomer, Mediator, High Priest, Teacher, and Exemplar. Jesus will use power from God to heal this earth and everyone then on it; including those that died before Armageddon, who he will bring back to life here. (John 5:28,29)
Under God's "Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6), Jesus Christ, earth will become a global Eden-paradise, just like Jehovah/ Yahweh originally intended it to be. (Genesis 1:31) (Remember what his name means, "He Causes to Become.") Everyone alive then will have all they need, with every right desire fulfilled - they will thrive, they will be happy, and they will say thank you to God/ Jehovah/ Yahweh constantly. (Isaiah 25:6-9; Psalm 145:16; Revelation 21:3,4; and Psalms 146-150 and more.) They will "Praise Jah" - sing "Hallelujah" - for real.
Commentor, hate posts against Yahweh/ Jehovah get deleted here - you can run back to the bulk-blob, mass-mindset/ group-thinking mainstream majority of mankind alienated from God for your "spiritual" support if you want to. I'm sure you can find it - it would be easy.

I thought though that you might want to replay the part of the Vertigo DVD where Bono dedicate a song to the troops, if you had notice the song dedicated..it was "Running to stand still" a song about a heroin addict, i will leave the rest for you to figure out.....

During at least one show I attended live to observe/ protest at, Bono asked for a blessing upon and/or prayers for the safety of "the troops."
Don't you think people were praying with everything they were before, during, and after bombs from "troops" blew holes in the heads of or legs off of their spouses and children?
God doesn't want to hear any prayers in behalf of any human carnal war forces anymore - or from those who spiritually support them (see Isaiah 1:15). His will for people now is opposite to that. He wants them to not even "learn war" anymore, and to preach and teach his commands of peace. (Isaiah 2:2-4)
The bottom line is this: This is Satan's world system now. The same forces that distract and urge people away from following God's biblical commands and principles to not harm their neighbor are the same forces that mislead and tempt people into defiling their flesh, opening themselves up to spiritism, committing fornication, stubbornly rebelling against God, etc., etc., etc.
Most people are milling around this earth spiritually blinded, and are satisfied with their being so - just like Jehovah/ Yahweh said they would be in this time of the end. Its how Satan continues to manipulate people to defy their Creator to his face, even passively - to go ahead and do things that their own God-built-in consciences tell them they should NOT do. Moreover though, this is the time when God's own true scriptural commands and warning messages are going out all over the world. (Matthew 24:14)
People are losing their excuses, by the minute, for not obeying God instead of other mere men - or their own wrong, though strong desires (which really aren't for their own lasting benefit).
"This is what Jehovah has said, your Repurchaser, the Holy One of Israel: ' I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit [yourself], the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk. O IF ONLY YOU WOULD ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO MY COMMANDMENTS! THEN your PEACE would become just like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.' "

REAL peace from God's own heaven-based Kingdom taking over earth will be here soon. Be there for it. Obeying him and worshiping him in "spirit and truth" with his named people is like getting into the Ark. Do it. (2 Thessalonians 1:8 ; John 4:24; Ephesians 4:4-6; 1 Peter 3:20,21)

A bit more...The reason WHY many people get into taking heroine or other drugs is HOPELESSNESS. False religions do esentially NOTHING to alleviate hopelessness. They even ADD to people's frustration.
Those of the one true religion - the global one that holds to the Bible as its authority and that bears God's own personal name and spirit upon it - however, follow God's commands to reach out and OFFER TRUE HOPE based on what is REAL to "all sorts of men."
When people see REAL REASONS from God's own words to get off of drugs; when they come to appreciate their heavenly Father for being the over-the-top loving person that he is, then they DON'T WANT TO DISPLEASE HIM by disobeying his scriptural principles.
That is powerful motivation.
Further, God is very willing to spiritually strengthen humans sincerely wanting to do the right thing. People can pray to him for help to not give in to urges to take more drugs, etc.
Besides learning God's biblical requirements and praying for strength to follow them; another help is to put in mind and keep in mind God's own promises to make this world a trouble-free global garden of Eden. Satan and his forces will be GONE. There will be no more wars or terrorism. There will not be crime, economic dispair, sickness, homelessness, etc., etc.
Life will be good here on earth. It will be BETTER than good. It will be paradise, just like Jehovah originally intended. Since he always succeeds in his purposes, it will come to be, and that time will begin soon.
Instead of dwelling on present trouble too much; people can, by hope based on what is REAL, project themselves into that future - we can picture ourselves there.
The need is to learn about God, for real; and to then put trust in him - to trust and love him enough to obey him. We can ask him for help to do his will too.
As a result of doing the above, there have been individuals who were deeply into drug usage and drug culture who have become free of such enslavement. They have straightened out their values so as to be in line with God's thinking - what he says is most important (i.e., not material things, etc.). They have reclaimed their lives and dignity; and now have REAL HOPE based on what is real. They have become amazingly transformed into people desiring to LOVE GOD WITH THEIR WHOLE MINDS, and who don't want anything to get in the way of that. They now serve God "in spirit and truth"; and try to help others the way that they were helped.
They really are Witnesses to Jehovah's truth - including that God's words and spirit have the power to CHANGE HEARTS, and thus life courses.
